Painting has taught me to slow down, remove the blinders and pay close attention to my surroundings, in particular the buildings around me. Buildings are landmarks by which a place is recognized. They also mark developments and changes in society. Through my series of reflections of buildings old and new, I offer my audience a way of peering through the looking glass to see the changing phases of society. The new building in contrast with the fading old one highlights the marks of different eras. They also serve as a reminder that achievements in modern society come at some cost to the spiritual, emotional, social and mental life of individuals in that society.
